Privacy and data use
Speed measurements are performed against Cloudflare's network. Cloudflare receives your IP address, an estimated city or country, your ASN, and the connection measurement data as part of running the test. inasec never records your exact speeds. The test uses about 100 MB of data by default. Data-saving mode and slower connections automatically use a smaller test (about 50 MB).

What the numbers mean
Download is how quickly data comes to your device. Upload is how quickly data leaves. Latency (also called ping) is how long a round trip takes. Jitter is how much latency varies between samples.
Server distance and Wi-Fi conditions
Wi-Fi range, an older router, home wiring, congestion at your ISP, server distance, and device performance can all reduce the number below your plan. This test picks a nearby Cloudflare endpoint automatically.
Interpret the result
Your measured speed should generally support the use cases listed on the result card. It is a snapshot: repeated tests will vary. Do not take a single number as proof that a specific device, cable, or router is at fault.

How does this internet speed test work?
The test opens parallel downloads and uploads directly between your browser and Cloudflare test endpoints. Latency is measured with short round-trip probes. Nothing about the test traffic is stored on inasec servers.
How much data does a speed test use?
This test uses adaptive profiles. Reduced mode targets about 50 MB and is automatic on cellular or Save-Data connections. Standard mode is about 100 MB. High-speed mode is about 200 MB and is opt-in.
What is a good download speed?
It depends on what you do. 5 Mbps is enough for browsing and 1080p video calls. 25 Mbps handles a single 4K stream. 100 Mbps or more comfortably serves a multi-device household. Latency and jitter matter as much as raw speed for video calls and gaming.
What is ping?
Ping (latency) is how long a single round trip takes between your device and the test server. Lower is better. Under 20 milliseconds is excellent, 20 to 60 is typical for a wired connection, over 150 milliseconds is noticeable in real-time apps.
What is jitter?
Jitter is how much latency varies between samples. High jitter makes voice and video calls sound choppy even when the average latency is fine. Under 10 milliseconds is excellent; over 30 milliseconds is noticeable.
